Priorities

  • Responsible Governance

As our district is moving towards a more economically, socially and culturally diverse future I see my role as a board member to bring my professional and community experience to direct our superintendent, develop our policies to meet our current environment and set a stable foundation for the kids our district serves. This includes developing policies to be restorative, equity focused and center those most marginalized while meeting the needs of all kids.

  • Community Collaboration

Working together is the best path to all students having an opportunity to succeed. I want to improve the district's capacity to collaborate with community based organizations, other governments, and professional/public services to enhance student outcomes. I would like to see our district look at our current policy structure to ensure we can connect strengths in our surrounding systems and institutions with the needs of our students and their families.

  • Measure What Matters

Oversight is all about what you measure. I think our district has made great strides to improve the educational experience of all students, but if we are not measuring the right things with the right methods we will not get where we are trying to go. I am particularly concerned with our discipline data, how we gather it and being sure we as oversight and policy leadership can give our superintendent, district staff and parents the tools to evaluate our district and hold each other accountable.
